Our colleagues have the opportunity to grow and develop a career that offers both individual and company success, be part of an ownership culture that values diversity, and contribute to meaningful breakthroughs for patients and communities.
Right now, we are seeking highly qualified candidates to fill the position of:
Director Medical Affairs Oncology Pipeline (m/f/d)
Global Job Level: J100 / Director
Reports to: Senior Director Medical Affairs Oncology
Application information: Please apply with motivation letter and CV
About the Role
Oncology is a dedicated Therapeutic Area and key strategic growth pillar under Pfizer Germany’s Strategic Roadmap 2030, with an ambition to deliver eight cancer breakthroughs by 2030 across solid tumors and hematology. Medical Affairs serves as the scientific engine of the Oncology organization — translating pioneering science into meaningful impact for patients, HCPs, and the broader healthcare ecosystem.
This visible leadership role has a forward-looking mandate focused on pre-launch and emerging assets — including targeted therapies, ADCs, and bispecifics — building the medical foundation of disease-area science, data strategy, and site network that enables fast, high-quality launches, reflected in strong scientific partnerships, robust early evidence, and effective collaboration with GSSO and the International Medical organization. The precise indication scope will be defined together with the Oncology leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Vision
Define the multi-year Medical Affairs strategy for the emerging Oncology pipeline in Germany, aligned with the Strategic Roadmap 2030 and the global Oncology pipeline strategy, while maintaining clear medical independence and compliance boundaries.
Anticipate the evolving scientific and healthcare-system landscape and establish Pipeline Medical Affairs as an early, trusted scientific partner for emerging mechanisms and indications.
Scientific Collaborations & Ecosystem Leadership
Build trusted early scientific partnerships with KOLs, academic centers, cooperative study groups, scientific societies, and clinical research networks ahead of launch, across HCPs, patient organizations, payers, and policy makers.
Act as the medical single front door for scientific collaborations and investigator-sponsored research proposals for pipeline assets, within applicable compliance standards and the non-promotional boundary.
Scientific Leadership, Evidence Generation & Clinical Studies
Own the Pipeline Medical Plan and integrated early-evidence strategy, leading early evidence generation — real-world evidence, epidemiology, registries, investigator-sponsored research, medical education, and publications — to characterize emerging disease areas and close anticipated evidence gaps.
Collaborate with the International Medical organization, global medical, clinical development, HEOR, access, and regulatory colleagues to shape data strategy and ensure local insights inform broader planning across markets.
Closely collaborate with GSSO on clinical study execution in Germany, including Country Outreach, study-site identification, and driving speedy site recruitment for pipeline studies.
Utilize advanced analytics and AI-enabled insight synthesis to shape data strategy, accelerate scientific readiness, and support healthcare-system decision-making.
Market Access Readiness (Medical/Scientific Support)
Provide early medical/scientific support to shape future benefit dossiers and reimbursement evidence, anticipating added-benefit requirements and steering data generation early to close gaps ahead of launch, in partnership with Access & Value.
Launch Preparation & Medical Readiness
Lead Medical launch readiness for the emerging Oncology pipeline, ensuring scientific, capability, and site-network readiness so assets transition smoothly from pipeline into launch and in-line management.
Drive differentiation through early evidence generation, medical storytelling, and scientific engagement.
Leadership & Talent
Build, develop, and inspire a high-performing Pipeline Medical team, fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, innovation, and collaboration.
Attract, retain, and grow top scientific talent through succession planning and development, dedicating a substantial share of leadership time to coaching, feedback, and clear prioritization.
Drive alignment within the Medical Leadership Team to share capabilities and drive joint success across therapeutic areas.
AI, Innovation & Medical Transformation
Champion responsible, compliant use of AI — with human oversight of AI-generated outputs — and build AI fluency and sound scientific judgment across the team.
Simplify ways of working and eliminate low-value activities to maximize time for scientific exchange and patient impact.
Compliance & Scientific Integrity
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and Pfizer policy requirements — upholding the non-promotional boundary, scientific integrity, pharmacovigilance, medical governance, and balanced scientific communication.
