Overview

Position Overview

At Foundation Building Materials (FBM), the Senior Director of Credit is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for the company’s national credit and collections function. This role ensures the protection of accounts receivable, the consistent application of credit policies, and the development of a high-performing credit team across all regions. The Director partners with senior leadership, sales, and operations to mitigate risk, enable responsible growth, and maintain strong customer relationships while safeguarding the company’s financial health.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities Strategic Credit Leadership

• Partner with the Vice President of Credit to establish and lead the company’s overall credit strategy, aligning policies and practices with corporate financial objectives.
• Direct and oversee all aspects of credit and collections nationally, including AR protection, risk assessment, and dispute resolution.
• Provide regular updates, analysis, and recommendations to executive leadership on credit risk exposure, reserves, and portfolio performance.

  Team Development & Oversight

• Directly manage Regional Credit Managers, who oversee Credit Managers in assigned territories.
• Exercises full management authority over the regional credit team, including interviewing, hiring, setting compensation recommendations, establishing performance expectations, conducting performance evaluations, coaching and corrective action, and making recommendations regarding promotions, discipline, and termination, with such recommendations given significant weight in final decision-making.
• Lead, coach, mentor and develop Regional Credit Managers and Credit Manager in assigned territories, foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and succession planning.
• Ensure consistent application of credit and collection policies across all regions.

  Operational Excellence

• Act as the final escalation point for complex customer credit issues, including high-risk accounts, legal actions, and settlements.
• Partner with sales and branch leadership to balance customer service with sound credit practices.
• Oversee compliance with lien laws, releases, and other legal mechanisms protecting AR across multiple states and jurisdictions.
• Monitor and report on national AR portfolio performance, identifying trends and driving improvements in DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) and bad debt ratios.

  ERP & Systems Experience

• Oversee and optimize the use of ERP systems for credit and collections processes.
• Ensure effective integration of credit management tools with ERP to drive efficiencies and data accuracy.
• HighRadius experience strongly preferred.

  Stakeholder & Customer Engagement

• Collaborate with internal teams including Sales, Operations, Finance, and Legal to ensure alignment on credit decisions and customer relationships.
• Build relationships with key customers, providing a balance of financial stewardship and customer partnership.

  Additional Responsibilities & Miscellaneous

• Perform other duties as assigned to support credit and corporate objectives.

   Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration required.
• 15+ years of progressive credit and collections experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a commercial distribution and/or contractor supply business.
• Strong knowledge of construction lien laws, legal collections, and AR protection practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi-location teams and implement standardized credit policies across a national organization.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to use insights and analytics to guide decision-making.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to partner across teams and functions.

Compensation and Benefits

Reports ToVice President of Credit   Compensation

The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position. Within the range, individual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications, and work location within state. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.

• Base: $150,000 - $185,000 per year
• Bonus: 30% Target Bonus
• Total Compensation (Base + Bonus): The successful candidate could reasonably expect a Total Compensation Package in the range of $172,500 - $250,000
• Equity: This role is eligible to participate in the Lowe’s Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program
