All pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties are represented at the MCH.

We provide a complete range of tertiary clinical services which address the health needs of vulnerable infants with complex conditions including; fetuses at risk identified prior to birth, extreme prematurity, infants with cardiovascular or neurological/neurosurgical conditions, or congenital anomalies. Situated in a large university hospital complex adjacent to a busy and innovative high risk obstetrical service, the Neonatology service cares for both in-born and out-born infants, the latter transferred from an extensive network throughout Quebec and supported by our neonatal transport program.

The Division of Neonatal Medicine and Follow-Up is a clinically strong group, comprised of 13 neonatologists with various clinical, educational, and research interests and expertise. We have pioneering productive research in quality improvement, hemodynamics, physiological monitoring and neonatal neurocritical care. In addition, our division is enriched by a longstanding Neonatal Follow-Up group consisting of four pediatricians with expertise in NICU graduates with special needs, and a group of associate pediatricians who contribute to the ongoing care of neonates in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). We have excellent clinical programs including antenatal diagnosis, consultation and treatment, neonatal transport, outreach education, physiological monitoring, neonatal hemodynamics and neonatal neuro critical care.  We train both physicians and neonatal nurse practitioners. In addition to rotating general pediatric residents, we have an active residency training program in neonatal-perinatal medicine and four neonatal fellowship programs. We also have medical students rotating for selective and elective rotations in the unit. Division members have extensive involvement in teaching at various levels and are involved in diverse scholarly activities at the hospital and the university as well as nationally and internationally.
