Northland Health Centers is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to provide senior-level leadership of accounting operations and financial reporting that drives organizational success. In this role, you'll ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, oversee payroll and grant accounting, and provide meaningful financial insights that support strategic decision-making across the organization.

What You'll Do
As Finance Manager, you will provide oversight and leadership for the organization's accounting and financial operations, including:
- Lead daily accounting operations, cash management, accounts payable, and disbursements
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and complete reconciliations
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports
- Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary audit liaison
- Oversee grant accounting and regulatory reporting, including HRSA, UDS, and Medicare Cost Reports
- Support organizational budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Strengthen internal controls, financial policies, and risk management practices
- Supervise and mentor Finance Department staff
- Collaborate with leadership to provide financial guidance that supports organizational goals
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Five to seven years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience
- Leadership experience with budgeting, auditing, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, payroll, reconciliations, internal controls, and financial systems
- Healthcare, nonprofit, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), and federal grant accounting experience preferred
- CPA designation preferred
Work Environment
This is a full-time, on-site position located in Turtle Lake, North Dakota. The regular work schedule is Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Remote work or telecommuting is not available for this position.
Weekly Operating Rhythm
You'll begin each day by reviewing cash position, open accounting items, payroll activity, and reporting priorities before collaborating with HR and organizational leaders to keep key deadlines on track. Dedicated time throughout the week is reserved for month-end close activities, grant and audit preparation, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. You'll regularly transform complex financial information into practical recommendations that support sound business decisions while maintaining strong internal controls and regulatory compliance.
