Role summary:The (USA) Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration, is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial settings. This role involves diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards. The Technician collaborates with management and team members to deliver efficient service, supports operational needs across multiple locations, and participates in on-call rotations. Strong technical expertise, adherence to protocols, and effective communication are essential to ensure system reliability and customer satisfaction.
About the team:
The Facility Services HVAC/Refrigeration team ensures the reliable operation of critical systems across Walmart’s commercial and industrial sites. This team manages installation, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. Members collaborate to troubleshoot issues, coordinate service calls, and maintain parts inventory for timely resolutions. Emphasizing skill development through hands-on training and mentorship, the team supports business priorities focused on safety, efficiency, and operational excellence. Their commitment helps maintain optimal equipment performance and supports Walmart’s ongoing dedication to dependable facility services.
What you'll do:
- Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics, ensuring compliance with building codes and operational specifications.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues across commercial and industrial systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigeration units, walk-ins, reach-ins, and rack systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Conduct inspections and service activities following OSHA standards and EPA refrigerant handling protocols.
- Lead and mentor field teams, providing technical guidance and promoting safety practices.
- Manage service calls, coordinate with external providers, and maintain accurate documentation and inventory.
- Operate company vehicles safely to complete service assignments within assigned regions.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial or industrial settings.
- Ability to interpret technical schematics, layout plans, and comply with building codes and HVAC/R regulations.
- Skilled in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
- Knowledge of EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols and OSHA safety standards.
- Strong communication skills to effectively explain technical information to customers and collaborate with teams.
- Capability to lead and mentor technicians while managing service calls and workload using digital tools.
- Valid driver’s license with experience operating company vehicles safely.

The hourly wage range for this position is $29.00 - $58.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...
Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.
Option 1: Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.Option 2: 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.
Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
