About the role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the APAC Finance Manager, the Accountant will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate recording of financial transactions, proactive management of Accounts Payables and Receivables, and support preparation of financial statements for reporting and compliance purposes. Geographic scope will primarily focus on Japan and Singapore, with supporting role for China.
You will work closely with Front Office and Business Support to provide reliable financial information for decision-making.
You will be able to leverage the experience and expertise of accountants and financial controllers on the wider Operations and Business Support Teams in Singapore as well as entities around the world
In a nutshell, your tasks will be:
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, responsible for full set of accounts for Japan, while supporting Singapore and China. (AP/ AR/ GL/ Bank reconciliation/ Financial report P & L, Balance sheet and reconciliations)
- Be main point of contact for Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) process coordination, from invoice processing to preparation of payments to recording receipts;
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision making: Vendor and Customer ledger analysis. Provide insights and recommendations based on analysis.
- Support tax computations and submissions
- Assist with external audit requests and annual financial statement preparation;
- Onboarding new counterparties bank account and VAT/GST/CT codes;
- Ensure adherence to all relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and implement necessary adjustments.
- Support process improvement and automation initiatives
Your Expertise:
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and attributes:
Business-related University degree (Accountancy preferred);
- At least 2 years working experience in a corporate accounting or public accounting position, strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, IFRS; Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a plus;
- High attention to detail and ability to adapt to change/flexibility;
- Effective cross-functional communication skills
- Dynamic, “outside of the box” problem solver with a “roll up your sleeves” mentality;
- Self-starter mentality, good at working independently;
- Proactive and illustrates a focus on continuous process improvement;
- Fluency in Mandarin and/or Japanese is a plus;
- Experience in international VAT treatment is a plus;
