Accountant

Affiliates Management Company (AMC) is a wholly owned holding company of the Iowa Credit Union League (ICUL) and its operating companies. We are seeking a full-time Accountant to join our accounting team and support a variety of accounting functions across the AMC family of companies. In this role, you will help maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions and records.

What You Will Do

• Perform recurring bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and record adjustments to ensure cash activity is accurately reflected in the general ledger.
• Monitor cash positions across bank accounts, identify potential funding or liquidity concerns, and communicate material issues to leadership.
• Record deposits and payments accurately and on time, with appropriate documentation and coding in the accounting system.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including reviewing vendor invoices, processing payments, applying customer payments, and following up on outstanding receivables.
• Review general ledger coding and verify the accuracy and validity of transactions while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets, and promptly resolve discrepancies.
• Develop reconciliation documentation and provide assistance during external audits.
• Build effective relationships with vendors, credit unions, auditors, regulatory agencies, and internal teams to resolve issues and support financial processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational performance and team efficiency, and support the implementation and documentation of new procedures or systems.

Who You Are

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field from an accredited college, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five or more years of related accounting experience and/or training.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills with the ability to work with complex nested formulas and pivot tables.
• Experience using accounting systems; experience with NetSuite or other ERP systems is a plus.
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility, with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
• Results-driven mindset and the ability to identify and support practical process improvements.
