HR Officer | Brampton, Cumbria | £30,000 – £32,000 depending on experience | Full time, office based
Do you want a generalist HR role where you get to see everything rather than one narrow slice? And would you rather do it from a single, settled base in Cumbria while supporting a business that stretches well beyond it?
Our client is a well-established group with operations across the UK and Ireland, headquartered near Brampton. The HR function is small and close-knit, which means the person coming in gets genuine breadth from day one and real visibility with managers at every level. There's no hiding in a corner of the process here. You'll be in the middle of it.
The Role
Reporting to the HR Manager, you'll deliver a responsive, professional HR service across the whole group. It's a true generalist remit and the variety is the appeal.
Employee relations and advice
- Provide timely, professional HR advice to managers and employees across a wide range of employee relations matters
- Support the HR Manager on ER cases, making sure everything stays compliant with employment legislation and internal policy
- Take accurate notes in meetings and prepare detailed, formal HR documentation
- Provide probationary advice and guidance to managers and new starters
Recruitment and onboarding
- Manage end-to-end recruitment, from advertising and shortlisting through to interviewing and onboarding
- Handle offboarding properly too, including exit interviews and final documentation, so people leave on good terms
Systems, records and reporting
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date employee records
- Administer and maintain HR systems and databases
- Contribute to HR reporting, analytics and continuous improvement projects
Policy and internal communications
- Assist with developing and implementing HR policies, procedures and initiatives
- Manage and maintain the internal intranet site, keeping content accurate, accessible and current
- Compile and distribute a quarterly internal newsletter covering updates, news and employee engagement content
- CIPD Level 3 qualification (this one is essential but the client is willing to support someone who is willing to work towards it)
- Solid generalist HR experience, ideally gained somewhere fast-paced
- Hands-on experience handling employee relations matters
- Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to build relationships at all levels
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills with a sharp eye for detail
- A high level of discretion and professionalism
- The ability to juggle multiple priorities without dropping any of them
- Experience using HR systems, plus solid Microsoft Office skills
