Purpose
The Psychology Department Business Office is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Work-Study Student Associate to provide administrative and operational support to the department. The student will assist with routine business office functions, including document management, data entry, purchasing support, reconciliation, filing, and general administrative tasks.
This position provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in university business operations, financial administration, customer service, and professional office procedures within an academic environment.
Responsibilities
Administrative Support
Provide general administrative support to the Psychology Department Business Office.
Organize, scan, upload, and maintain electronic and paper records.
Assist with filing and maintaining departmental documentation.
Enter and update information in university systems and spreadsheets.
Assist with preparing routine correspondence, forms, and reports.
Monitor shared office email or administrative requests and route questions to the appropriate staff member.
Financial and Business Operations Support
Assist with routine purchasing and procurement-related activities.
Help organize receipts, invoices, and supporting documentation.
Assist with reviewing transactions for completeness and accuracy.
Support reconciliation of departmental financial records under staff supervision.
Departmental Operations
Assist with special projects and administrative assignments as needed.
Support preparation of materials for meetings and departmental activities.
Assist with inventory tracking and organization of office supplies.
Provide basic customer service to faculty, staff, students, and visitors by directing questions to the appropriate department contact.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Current UT Austin student eligible for Federal Work-Study.
Ability to work independently while following established procedures and instructions.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Basic computer and data-entry skills.
Dependable and able to meet established deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in business administration, accounting, finance, human resources, or higher education administration.
Experience working in a university or professional office environment.
Experience with university systems like DEFINE, Workday, and UT Marketplace
Salary Range
$16/hr
Working Conditions
Typical office environment
Work Shift
12-15 hours per week based on availability
Must be able to work a consistent schedule Monday through Friday
Coordination of schedule and classes will be coordinated with supervisor
