Ray Graham Association/Gateway SRA | Part-Time Recreation Leader.

Love sports? Believe every athlete deserves the chance to learn, compete, and celebrate their accomplishments? Come coach with the Gators! 

Gateway SRA is looking for an enthusiastic Recreation Leader who is interested in coaching a variety of our Gators Special Olympics sports. From practices to competitions, you’ll help athletes build skills, develop confidence, strengthen friendships, and experience the excitement of being part of a team.

We’re looking for someone who brings:

• A passion for sports and working with individuals with disabilities
• A positive, encouraging coaching style
• A willingness to learn and coach a variety of sports
• Reliability, teamwork, and plenty of Gator spirit! 

You don’t have to be an expert in every sport. If you’re ready to learn, lead, and cheer on our athletes, we want to hear from you!

Days/Hours: Evenings after 5pm (M, T, Th and a few weekend tournaments)

Help our Gators play with heart, grow through teamwork, and celebrate every victory—on and off the field! 
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational programs such as sports, arts and crafts, fitness classes, and community events.
• Lead and supervise program participants, ensuring safety and engagement during all activities.
• Set up and take down equipment for activities and events.
• Monitor and evaluate participant progress and provide feedback as needed.
• Ensure that all equipment and materials are properly maintained and organized.
• Enforce safety rules and guidelines, providing first aid or assistance as required.
• Maintain a positive, friendly, and inclusive environment for all participants.
• Assist with registering participants and handling program-related paperwork.
• Provide outstanding customer service to participants and parents, answering questions and resolving concerns.
• Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth coordination of recreational programs.
• Assist with marketing and promoting programs through social media, flyers, or other channels.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.

Requirements

• Previous experience in recreation programs, sports, or customer service is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire program participants.
• Basic knowledge of recreational activities and sports.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry equipment (up to 30 lbs).
• Ability to stand, walk, and engage in physical activities for extended periods.
• Ability to respond quickly in case of emergency situations.
