What you'll do...
Role summary:The Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration, leads the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role oversees preventive maintenance programs, manages refrigeration units, and coordinates field teams to optimize system performance. The position requires detailed documentation, vendor coordination, and adherence to regulatory protocols. Additionally, the Senior Technician provides hands-on training, supports critical business needs through on-call duties, and drives continuous improvements by evaluating new technologies and refining operational processes to meet evolving organizational goals.

The Exterior Services team ensures Walmart’s outdoor areas remain safe, clean, and well-maintained through expert landscaping, equipment operation, and preventive maintenance. What you'll do:
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including ductwork, control panels, and refrigeration units.
- Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues to ensure optimal system performance.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and minimize downtime.
- Manage refrigerant handling, inventory, and vendor relationships in compliance with OSHA and EPA standards.
- Coordinate and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating technician skill development.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support critical business needs and resolve service issues promptly.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes and support HVAC/R business solutions.
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including commercial and industrial refrigeration units.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and performance feedback.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.
- Proficiency in managing parts inventory, vendor relationships, and coordinating service workloads to meet business priorities.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and support continuous process improvements.

The hourly wage range for this position is $35.00 - $70.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...
Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.
Option 1: 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration.Option 2: 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area or 2 years’ Walmart store experience.
Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
