Role summary:The Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration, leads the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex HVAC/R systems across commercial and industrial settings. This role ensures compliance with safety and environmental standards while managing preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment performance and longevity. The position involves coordinating field teams, mentoring technicians, and overseeing service operations to meet business priorities. The Senior Technician also supports continuous improvement initiatives, manages vendor relationships, and participates in on-call rotations to address critical needs promptly, contributing to the overall reliability and efficiency of facility services.

What you'll do:
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including ductwork, control panels, and refrigeration units.
- Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues in commercial and industrial settings.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime.
- Manage refrigerant handling, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and HVAC/R codes.
- Coordinate and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating technician performance.
- Maintain parts inventory, vendor relationships, and service schedules to meet business priorities.
- Participate in on-call rotation to support critical operational needs outside regular hours.
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and control panels.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant systems in commercial and industrial settings.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating technician performance.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.
- Effective management of parts inventory, vendor relationships, and service coordination to meet operational priorities.
- Ability to document work accurately, including detailed notes and photographic evidence.

The hourly wage range for this position is $35.00 - $70.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...
Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.
Option 1: 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration.Option 2: 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area or 2 years’ Walmart store experience.
Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
