What you'll do...
Role summary:The Senior Manager, Safety Strategy, leads the execution of safety initiatives by collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. This role drives the development and communication of safety plans, evaluates program performance using key metrics, and implements process improvements to enhance safety outcomes. The position requires strategic decision-making, risk management, and effective stakeholder engagement to support organizational goals. The Senior Manager also mentors team members, promotes compliance with safety standards, and stays informed on industry best practices to advance the company’s safety management systems.
About the team:
The Enterprise Safety Governance & Standards team develops and maintains the safety framework that directs operational safety across Walmart. Collaborating with various business units, the team creates enterprise-wide safety standards, tailored safety programs, and detailed hazard control guidance. Through governance, standardization, and risk-based decision-making, the team ensures consistent safety expectations, regulatory compliance, and effective hazard management across retail, supply chain, manufacturing, and facilities services. This collaborative approach supports Walmart’s commitment to maintaining safe and compliant work environments while driving continuous improvement in safety practices throughout the enterprise.
What you'll do:
- Oversee execution of safety projects, ensuring alignment with budgets and schedules through collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Develop and communicate business plans and priorities to drive safety initiatives across company segments.
- Monitor program performance using key indicators and trend data, conducting analyses to evaluate effectiveness and ROI.
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Prepare and present progress reports and performance metrics to senior leadership.
- Lead process improvements by conducting gap analyses and recommending changes aligned with company strategies.
- Provide guidance and development opportunities to team members, fostering a high-performing environment.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in safety management systems and regulatory compliance, including OSHA standards.
- Strong skills in risk analysis, risk management, and occupational safety and health practices.
- Experience leading cross-functional collaboration with multiple business units to drive safety initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability in strategic decision making, program management, and change management.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpreting key performance indicators to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Certified Safety Professional credential preferred.
- Excellent communication skills to educate stakeholders and present progress to senior leadership.
- Competence in Microsoft Office and content creation for safety-related communications.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
